Ironic Nutrition Unit Story
A story of irony that is funny but not funny at all:
My daughter attends an amazing preschool where four-year-olds learn things I don't even know about. However, during their unit on nutrition, the kids took a field trip to Stew Leonard's in Danbury. When I picked up my daughter from school, she was screaming that her stomach hurt. After a huge scene, I learned that at Stew Leonard's she ate ice cream, cookies, and all kinds of other sweet junk all day at Stew's. Though I'm sure they were offered other foods (I think I saw a picture of kids aghast at a basket of snap peas), they were mostly offered all kinds of junk food. I think the only valuable takeaway from this field trip was that too much junk food hurts your stomach! Well, that's something, at least!
